Bridget Bishop

FC1A1956Hi! My name is Bridget Bishop. This is my seventh year teaching Kindergarten at Tuckahoe. I am originally from New Hampshire, but now live in Vienna, VA with my husband and dog. I graduated from the University of New Hampshire with a BA in English and minors in Economics and Spanish. In undergrad, I studied abroad for a semester at Regent’s College in London. I also have a Masters in Elementary Education from Marymount University. While earning my Master’s degree, I interned at Taylor and Jamestown Elementary Schools. I have also worked summer school programs at Glebe and Nottingham. I value establishing an inclusive, warm classroom community and use Responsive Classroom techniques. I believe all students can learn, and I differentiate instruction to support all learning styles, utilizing multi-sensory strategies. I am trained in Responsive Classroom, Ortin Gillingham, Zones of Regulation, Math Workshop, Writing and Reading Workshop (Teachers College, Lucy Caulkins), Leveled Literacy Intervention, Words Their Way, Heggerty Phonemic Awareness, and Step up to Writing. In my spare time, I enjoy exercising, playing piano, playing with my two dogs, and traveling. I love being a part of the Tuckahoe Kindergarten team and look forward to another great year!

It’s TEACHER APPRECIATION WEEK! In honor of APS teachers, pls write to our school board to support option 4 to give teachers a 2% COLA & Step halfway thru the year. Teachers have been overlooked for COLA & steps many times over the past several years. Thank you ❤️✏️
