Walk, Bike, or Roll to School Day

October 9

Arlington Public Schools is celebrating National Walk and Bike to School day on Wednesday, October 9th. Tuckahoe is planning a fun-filled event and encourages you and your child to walk, bike, or roll to school. Walk and Bike to School Day also helps raise community awareness about the importance of pedestrian and bicycle safety education, safe routes to schools, well-maintained walkways, and traffic calming in our neighborhoods and around our schools. Visit Walk and Bike to School Day, Virginia’s Safe Routes to School, and Bike Arlington for tips and additional resources.

For safety purposes, we are asking bikers and walkers to use the sidewalks and crosswalks. Please do not walk, bike, or roll in the parking lot. The Tuckahoe staff and 5th grade Green Team will be assisting students with securing their bikes in front of the school and inside the playground. Walkers and bikers will line up by door 9 to ensure they get to their classrooms on time. If you walk, bike, or roll to school, stop by our tables in the fenced area to sign your name on our poster, take a picture, and enter a raffle for prizes. After school starts, raffle winners will be announced on the morning announcements. We look forward to seeing lots of bikers, walkers, and scooters!
