First Grade

Ms. Barnett is beginning her fourth year at Tuckahoe, but it's her first year as a first grade teacher. She loves to watch students become more confident critical thinkers in reading and math. Outside of school she enjoys spending time with her family and walking her two dogs. She is looking forward to working with students and parents to make a safe and happy classroom community that learns and grows together!

Mr. Brent is beginning his 14th year as a first grade teacher at Tuckahoe Elementary. He loves building relationships with his students and families and seeing them grow as independent learners. Outside of school he enjoys spending time with his wife and three young children (5, 3, and 1) and goes on many walks. He is excited for a new and fun year.

Ms. Matthews is in her 7th year as a first grade teacher at Tuckahoe. She graduated from JMU with her masters, Go Dukes! She loves building a classroom family every year. Outside of school, she loves to read, go to the beach, and spend time with her family and friends. She can't wait to have another great year in first grade!
