Swimming and Water Safety are a part of the 3rd & 4th grade Health and Physical Education Curriculum in Arlington County. Students are given the opportunity to participate in a five day Swimming/Water Safety Program during school hours. Every student that participates in this program will either learn how to swim or will improve upon his or her swimming skills, as well as learn how to be safe in and around water. Students will be supervised and taught by certified aquatic teachers at Yorktown High School and the Tuckahoe PE staff.
Not only is this a wonderful lifetime skill, but it can also be a lifesaver!
Things to Know:
- Check your swim suit before the first day of class. Does it fit?
- You can wear a swim shirt if you like.
- If you are bringing googles, they cannot cover your nose openings.
- We ask students to take a quick rinse at the pool after class and save the deep cleaning/shampooing/conditioning for at home that night.
- No hair dryers
- Don’t forget your TOWEL!
